Cracked tooth syndrome occurs when a tooth has a crack that is challenging to identify until the gum life, or too small to show up on X-rays. It appears often on molars.
Signs & Symptoms
Most people experience cracked tooth syndrome as pain or discomfort when biting into food, or when teeth are exposed to hot or cold temperatures. The pain or discomfort won’t be constant, as with a cavity.
Your dentist will recommend the best treatment depending on the severity and location of the tooth fracture. Treatment options include:
- Root canal
- Tooth removal
It is important to visit your dentist as soon as possible if you experience any type of discomfort. The sooner your dentist can identify the problem the better. Remember that neglect is expensive!
